Chapter 133 You, idiot panda
Chapter 133 You, idiot panda
Luo Xiaolei was obviously in disbelief and Guan Ye couldn’t blame her. He knew she was not aware of Yu Chen’s condition so he could only try coaxing her and calm her down.
"Please calm down, Miss. You don’t have to worry. The boss will be fine." Guan Ye assured. He tried persuading her to lie down and rest but it looked like she was after all the same as Yu Chen, they were both stubborn and unstoppable. They won’t even think twice as if they don’t care about anything else anymore, even their own safety.
In the end, Guan Ye could only surrender and finally brought her out of her room.
Just as they arrived, the surgery light had flickered off. A doctor and a few nurses walked out of the room and she saw the man named Gu Jinyang immediately stood and asked the doctors about Yu Chen’s condition. Gladly, the doctor smiled, indicating that everything is alright. The doctor then stated that Yu Chen’s condition had stabilized and that the surgery was an immense success.
Hearing the doctor’s words, Luo Xiaolei’s knees weakened as she sat on the chair. She was worried to death just a moment ago so hearing that Yu Chen was finally alright made her feel she could finally breath again.
"See? I told you, boss is not that weak, okay?" Guan Ye tried cheering her up before he persuaded her once again. "Now please go back to your bed and have a rest, Miss." But Luo Xiaolei still didn’t budge.
She stayed there until they transferred Yu Chen in another luxurious room just right next to hers.
"Miss Luo, the doctor said, it might take a day or two before he wakes up." Gu Jinyang was the one who spoke. "So, I suggest you go back to your bed and recover first. Please don’t worry about him and focus on your recovery first so that when he wakes up, you can stay with him as much as you want."
Luo Xiaolei understood what Gu Jinyang wanted to happen. He was right, she needs to calm down and she needed to recover fully before Yu Chen wake up.
Standing by Yu Chen’s bed, Luo Xiaolei’s eyes were fixated on his face. He looked like he was in peace but seeing him in this state, her heart was being squeezed tight.
After just staring at him quietly for a long while, Luo Xiaolei finally moved away. But she didn’t walk straight towards the door. She walked towards Gu Jinyang and asked. "Mr. Gu, can I ask something first before I go?"
It seemed like Gu Jinyang was expecting her to approach him. "Of course. But can we speak in your room?" he suggested, and after glancing at the other two men who were with them inside, Luo Xiaolei obediently nodded.
As soon as they were inside her room, Luo Xiaolei didn’t waste any moment. She was dying of curiosity. She had so many questions to ask.
"Mr. Gu, I... can you tell me the truth? Is Yu Chen really alright? I know I can’t remember it very well and everything is blurry but Yu Chen shouldn’t be injured so badly like that. Why did he suddenly need to undergo a surgery?" Luo Xiaolei tone was colored with confusion, her expression was pained and worried. Her emotions were a bit all over the place but she had this feeling that there was really something wrong with Yu Chen. She also remembered those nights when she noticed that Yu Chen’s personal doctor, Yang Jin, was visiting him secretly and that he was always around Yu Chen.
Hearing her, Gu Jinyang was finally convinced that there was no use hiding all this from her. He was also impressed by how observant she was. He had noticed just how aware she was of Yu Chen but he didn’t expect that she actually had this suspicions since the beginning. It looked like, he was right when he thought that there was no one else who was watching Yu Chen the way she did.
"Miss Luo, actually... you are right. Yu Chen has a bleeding a disorder." Gu Jinyang began. "He has hemophilia, that’s why his small supposedly injury become such a life threatening for him."
Luo Xiaolei was unable to speak for a moment. Even though she had somehow expected this, she still felt heaviness in her chest upon confirming it.
"Was this also the reason why his doctor is always checking him out every night?" she asked, her voice was weak and soft.
"No, actually, he had a more serious condition."
Gu Jinyang’s words made Luo Xiaolei lifted her head again and looked at him in utter confusion.
"He has CIP*. He can’t feel any physical pain. That’s why Yang Jin need to constantly check him out."
Luo Xiaolei could only gasp. Her face had turned absolutely incredulous. She happened to stumbled upon an article about this rare condition a year ago so she knew just how dangerous it was. Back then, as she was reading about it, she couldn’t even imagine how anyone could be oblivious to cuts and burns. She even found it hard to believe that someone actually never experienced what physical pain feels like. And yet, Yu Chen, of all people actually had such condition?!
"It would be really bad if his enemies would find these fatal weaknesses of his so we are making sure to hide these facts. I hope you understand why we only revealed this to you now. If you still have questions about these matters, I think it’s better if you ask him yourself once he wakes up."
After Gu Jinyang left her room, Luo Xiaolei couldn’t to sleep. She couldn’t stop thinking about Yu Chen despite her body still feeling weak.
She started to realize a lot of things and she couldn’t help but become emotional.
"So that’s why his house is covered with carpets... and he was drinking a cold tea... he also didn’t even flinch when I pinched him so hard... you, idiot panda!" she muttered and then, suddenly, she teared up, and she couldn’t figure out why.
*CIP Congenital Insensitivity to Pain - is one or more rare conditions in which a person cannot feel (and have never felt) physical pain.
