Chapter 246 - City Of Many Races
"Go straight through…? But Master, it is blocked by an energy barrier…" Fenriri mentioned with doubt.
"I know," Albion nodded impassively before he said, "And so? If there isn\'t a path, just make one. Since this is an energy-based barrier, it will just repair itself anyway."
That being said, Albion quickly approached the energy barrier and stuck his hands before pulling them apart as if he was grabbing two parts of the energy barrier directly and wrenching them apart.
Bzzt!
+1 lightning resistance
The electrical current immediately rushed through Albion\'s body upon body, finding outlets to be discharged before his long white hair shot up like it just got styled with superglue, causing Albion\'s body to freeze immediately.
"Seems like this energy-based barrier is powered by electrical energy…" Albion\'s lips twitched, recalling his bad experiences with lightning.
"Master, your hair looks funny!" Fenriri giggled before adding, "It\'s almost like someone put superglue in your hair!"
"Well, all it is good as long as it\'s still standing on my head," Albion said before urging, "Now, hurry up and get in first."
"Yes, Master!" Fenriri quickly complied and passed through the hole that her master created.
Bzzzt—!
+1 lightning resistance
Shortly after Fenriri entered, Albion followed after, passing through the gap in the barrier—when he suddenly felt his head grew lighter, causing him to pause again.
"Master, your hair…" Fenriri pointed with surprise.
"Haiz, no need to say another word," Albion sighed despondently and said, "I know."
His tower-like standing hair was cut in hair after coming into contact with the barrier directly. Fortunately, he still kept half of it.
After a moment, Albion said, "Anyway, you already know about superglue?"
"Yeah… the bad people were using it to seal some wooden crates when Fenriri was still locked up behind cages…" Fenriri brought up before she quickly shook her head and moved on with a question.
"Is there something special about superglue?"
"No. Just know that it\'s something you should never put in hair, especially in excessive amounts," Albion advised her.
"But of course, there have been some idiots who have attempted it and end up needing to undergo surgery in order to remove it. You wouldn\'t want that, understand?"
"I see… That sound\'s terrible… Mm, Fenriri understands," Fenriri took Albion\'s words to heart seriously with surprise before she asked curiously, "But why would people do that to themselves?"
"Beats me, Fenriri. Beats me. God knows what they thought when they do what they do," Albion replied before he nonchalantly shrugged, "But you should understand that the world never lacks idiots."
As the two chatted, they made their way deeper into the big metropolis filled with flying hovercrafts in the air, speedy vehicles on the road, and even numerous pedestrians on the sidewalk.
Surprisingly, they were all humans, causing Albion to exclaim, "Oh? I was expecting an alien race, but this big city is actually run by humans?"
Nevertheless, it wasn\'t that much of a surprise.
He already understood from through existence of the Iceborn Wolf Tribe that humans also existed outside of Earth.
The humans on Earth were not the only human race throughout the vast cosmos.
"Master, master! These people don\'t seem to be surprised with our presence!" Fenriri mentioned while her eyes darted around in wonder, taking in the breathtaking sight of the majestic and beautiful city.
"Yeah," Albion nodded and said, "If you ignore our attire, we do not look much different from them—Oh? Are those elves too?"
Albion\'s eyes lit up.
He spotted some elves among the crowds of pedestrians, then shortly after, he spotted some cat-girls, followed by lizardmen and rabbit-women before he understood that it was a city filled with many races.
"Master, master! What are those things?" Fenriri quickly tugged Albion\'s clothes while pointing to various points and objects of interest with excitement, completely taking adventure for some holiday tour.
"That\'s a kebab store… Those are fairies… Those are… Hm, those are traps. They are very dangerous existences. Best stay away from them, lest you be led astray by them, Fenriri," Albion explained patiently.
"Oh, oh, oh!" Fenriri took in everything her master said before her eyes lit up and suddenly pointed to a fast-approaching object in the distance, "What about that big thing coming towards us?"
"That? That would be a truck… but you can call it Truck-kun, an intermediary servicer who will send you to another world—but only if you get chosen by it," Albion continued to explain before he raised an eyebrow.
Seeing the massive truck continuing to head their way, Albion pushed Fenriri aside and said, "Stay back, Fenriri. It seems my time has come again."
Nevertheless, this was already the third time.
It could no longer be considered a coincidence. Perhaps, Truck-kun wanted to finish the job that has been stolen from it by Lightning-kun.
Perhaps he was taken to the wrong world. As such, Albion did not run from it. No, he embraced it!
"Come, take me to my destined world!" Albion shouted.
Fenriri did not know what was going on with her master, but seeing such a big thing coming straight at them, she could not help but cry, "Master, watch out!"
Bam!
The out-of-control massive truck swung past Albion and struck another pedestrian before slamming into a tough building heavily—only to cause minor damage to it.
The building was surprisingly sturdy, but the pedestrian\'s fate was unknown.
"Hm, seems like it wasn\'t meant for me this time. False alarm," Albion muttered himself.
"Oh no, Master! Someone got hit just now!" Fenriri exclaimed shortly by her master\'s side again before saying urgently, "We should save him!"
"Don\'t!" Albion immediately stopped Fenriri.
"Eh?" Fenriri was surprised for a moment before she nodded, "Ah, you\'re right, Master. This person has nothing to do with us, so his life and death is none of our concern, right? Also, we don\'t belong here, so we have to keep a low profile too?"
"That\'s not it," Albion shook his head before he stated, "If we save him, not only would he not be grateful, he might even curse us. His destiny in another world calls for him."
"Huh?" Fenriri stared blankly with a dumb look, unable to process her master\'s words.
How can someone be unthankful for having their lives saved?
