Chapter 111
The grandmaster on the side seemed to be shocked. He did not expect this kid to be able to withstand his attack. Although he did hold back some power it was still not something that could would not harm this guy. He sensed light sensation in his knuckles, he asked, “You are a grade four warrior?”
Valerian stood up and gazed at his numb arm, he chuckled and said, “Oh, what fun.”
Then he raised his head to look up at the man in front of him and he moved in again. He gave up on using the collar chains and cast a spell, ‘Petra Chirothecam.’
The fists turned black, but the dim light made it difficult for the grandmaster to see this. However, watching this puny grade four child attack him, he felt insulted, he said, “I don’t know who are you and why are you seeking death but if so, I will help you with a painless one.”
The man finished speaking and his hand glowed with red light. The battle aura of a grandmaster was surging and he covered his fist with it tightly. This was a way to show his strength and respect to the boy in front of him.
Valkyrians were rash but they honored bravery. If a child was able to stand in front of their emperor and ask for his rights without fear, the emperor will grant him the rights. However, the child must be fearless, and brave.
Valerian was just like that child in his eyes, stupid, yet brave. Since this child was asking for death, he will grant him that. However, just as the fists of the two people was about to collide, the boy bent down, let the enemy’s fist fly over his head, drew closer to the enemy and his feet covered with hardening spell and laced with battle aura, landed right under the groin of the grandmaster.
Valerian may have used a cheap method, but he did not care about pride and bravery, he was a beast, and beasts cared about survival. If Valerian was to face the attack head on, his life might not be harmed, but he would have lost his right hand.
.....
The grandmaster did not expect such a vicious and lowly attack, but it was too late for him to react, after a momentary numbness the pain erupted from his core. His whole body turned soft. Covering the pubic region the grandmaster could not help but kneel down and let out groans from his mouth.
Valerian’s silver eyes were still glowing dimly but this time they were filled with joy. The pupil had turned back normal, it was now looking like a human, he himself did not know how to justify his maniacal behavior. But thankfully he still had some sanity, and used the most vulnerable part on the body of the grandmaster.
Yet, he did not dare to relax, even if the enemy was down on his knees, Valerian would act even faster to finish the threat. He did not have any other means to deal with this person, so he used the power of decay.
He cast a spell, “Mors Vitis.”
Life sucking vines entangled around the grandmaster, and then Valerian placed his hand on top of the grandmaster and willed for the power of decay to attack and slowly, the power from inside him began to pour inside the body of the enemy.
The person had recovered his strength, but he was slightly numb, although he was angry, he was still feeling a bit soft in his legs, but when the vines covered his body and a sense of numbness washed over him, he shivered from a fear. Chills ran down his spine as the numbness grew.
He realized that it was not a simple child he was facing. As the senses in his body gradually grew weaker, he asked in a weak voice, “Who are you?”
Valerian was surprised by the vigor of this person and said, “I am Valerian.”
The man made a humming sound, as if acknowledging the strength of his enemy and the light in his eyes gradually diminished. The body of a grandmaster was so vigorous that it did not crumble into ashes until half an hour.
It had just been a few moments, when the raining forest echoed with footsteps and calls of search, Valerian was aware that it was Vertex and the others who had came over looking for him. The boy was really tired, using the power of decay to deal with that guy had taken a toll on him physically.
Valerian cast a light spell, which will act like a beacon for the people. Not only people, when the Silver fox found that its master was done dealing with that grandmaster, and digested the fact that he turned the body into ashes, she also walked over, albeit cautiously.
The boy laying on the floor did not look any different than usual, and did not give off the aura of a maniac, so Silk came to sit down beside him, leaning her head on his stomach.
Soon, Vertex and the rest arrived and they found Valerian laying on the ground. They panicked and carried him to the fortress. The next morning when sun rose, Valerian found himself in an unfamiliar room, and he was laying on a bed. He frowned, because after Vertex carried him, the rest was just a series of blurry scenes and sounds. He thought this surge of weakness erupted from him using the power of decay.
He gradually sat up with slightly dizzy head. Silk sat up beside him, letting out soft sounds. Valerian looked at her and patted her forehead gently. The fox rubbed her head against his palm. The door of the room was pushed open and Vertex walked in, he saw Valerian sitting on the bed coaxing his beast companion.
He sighed and said, “Valerian, please spare me the worry in future. Do not rush off on your own.”
The boy on the bed faintly smiled and said, “I will try, Your Highness.”
Vertex shook his head and asked, “Oh yes, I wanted to ask you, did you meet any enemy?”
Valerian nodded and replied, “That person was a grade six warrior, so it was sort of troublesome to fight with him, but in the end I managed to get an upper hand because of my mage skills...”
He was basically feeding Vertex with bullshit and the latter was enjoying it as well. It could be that the child has read a lot of stories earlier so his ability to weave stuff out of nothing was very good. Vertex believed him when Valerian said that in the end, when the fellow was injured and tried to desperately struggled, a flame lion came over and dragged the guy away.
Vertex did not doubt because the Flame tiger had left traces in the place. He asked, “Would you like to rest or go back to the imperial city.”
If not for the fact that something was waiting for him in the capital, he would have liked to rest, but Valerian said, “I will go back to the capital.”
Vertex nodded and said, “Then get ready, after breakfast, we will leave.”
The child nodded, as the second prince left him to get ready. The rest of the process was simple. After breakfast with the soldiers in the common area, they took off on their magical beast mounts.
Vertex was with Valerian on the flame sparrow again, but this time, the two people were conversing quite a bit, the relation and understanding between the two of them had deepened after facing such chaos. Although the second prince did not say much, but he was grateful that Valerian had came forward in his time of need and that too without hesitation.
They reached the imperial capital in the noon one day later. Valerian quickly charged to his room, and he found that the room was empty. He did not find the dragon inside and a bad premonition rose in his heart. He rushed to the room of the Empress, only Fragrantia could tell him what was going on.
On the way, Conixia spotted him and she wanted to talk but the boy was in such a hurry that she could not even catch up to him. Upset, the lady went to find the princess and grieve in front of her.
Valerian reached the room of the empress and the guards nodded to him as they greeted, “Greetings, Your Highness.”
The boy nodded and asked, “Is her excellency inside?”
The guards nodded and catching the hint, she knocked on the door and said, “Your Excellency, his highness, the fourth prince is here, seeking audience with you.”
“Let him in.”, the guard slightly opened the door and Valerian rushed inside.
The sight inside the room, made the boy gawk from shock.
